Project Everest, first introduced in 1985, and Project K2 that followed, introduced the concept of flagship technological showcases that highlighted JBL’s loudspeaker engineering expertise.

Subsequent variants of both models delivered improvements in sonic performance along with new materials, finishes, and designs that were superior to those before. Like their namesake mountains, Everest and K2 models have always been the highest pinnacle for discerning music enthusiasts. It is upon this solid foundation that the Summit Series is built.

The Summit Series extends the range with the addition of three new peaks – Summit Ama, Summit Pumori, and Summit Makalu – each representing the best in their class and known for their unique features and mountaineering significance.

Ama Dablam, meaning “Mother’s Necklace,” stands at 6,812 meters and is famed for its sharp, elegant shape, earning it the nickname the “Matterhorn of the Himalayas.” Pumori, or “Everest’s Daughter,” rises to 7,161 meters just west of Everest and serves as a popular training peak for climbers preparing for more challenging ascents. Towering at 8,481 meters, Makalu is the fifth-highest mountain in the world, known for its isolated location and near-perfect pyramid shape, first conquered by a French team in 1955.
